It has been a long absence for me from the SLR world; (no SLR for me since film days). My first SLR was a Nikon EM I got for high school graduation in 1978 (still have it somewhere).
I have a lot of digital cameras (Fujis and Nikons, but no SLRs) mostly for taking photos for work related reports in the building industry and family.
I am stunned at how far the SLRs have come and how good they are. I bought the 5200 kit plus the 1.8 prime lens to start with and an EYE-FI Mobi card to automatically stream photos to my phone as I take them.
I typically set the camera up for continuous shooting at family events and take a few hundred shots three or four at a time then pull out the good stuff.
The super-fast ISO almost makes a flash unnecessary for most family situations and the HDR mode is fantastic outdoors.
I do miss having the aperture ring on the lens barrel so getting used to the selector has been a challenge.
Still learning. This camera does so much.
This camera makes me want to take better photographs.
