this is the most epic camera i have ever owned! it is full hd and is super cool because if you go to the options for what type of camera taking option you want, (most users don't know this!) you can put in this slo-mo thing! it is so cool and i can't wait to use it this summer!

Prior to my purchase, I read a few comments and I was somewhat concerned, I guess my expectation was lowered accordingly. I am 120% satisfied and can't believe the quality of the videos. I was fortunate enough to be in Hawaii where turtles abounds and in some care really friendly, I couln't be happier with the result. Well worth the money!

Great Camera, take great out door pictures even under water as long as there is good lighting, hd video is also amazing for this little camera, went on cruise for 7 days Camera lasted very well, i also checked out other cameras before returning items and finally buying this one, no regrets, look around for sales, i got this from best buy 2.49

Comprei esta câmera para tirar fotos subaquáticas, e amei as cores e a perfeita nitidez em cada detalhe. Ela é mega resistente, e até agora atendeu a todas as minhas expectativas. Só o GPS dela que é estranho de mexer. O restante é maravilhoso. Gostei da qualidade das fotos noturnas, na praia, na piscina, na floresta, enfim... Indico e recomendo a todos. Vocês não se arrependerão de ter esta câmera indispensável e potente.

This lightweight, pants-pocket-sized camera is perfect for snorkeling, mountaineering, hiking and snow skiing! I have used it for all these events.
The build quality is excellent except that the rear glass over the LCD display does scratch easily which I fixed by applying a Ghost Armor protector at a Mall kiosk. That took care of covering my scratches and now leaves the screen truly scratch free. The camera performs beautifully and the HDMI output to my 52 inch TV is awesome! The HD movies are superb coming from such a small camera.

Just got this AW100 Nikon in January and love it! I took it on a trip and shot over 600 photos. I didn't use it under water, but it was raining several days. It was great not having to worry about the camera getting wet; I continued to shoot and got some wonderful rain shots. I liked everything about it for a small camera, and will always take it along now to accompany my large camera & lens.

I have been a Nikon Coolpix owner for 10 years now and I love the extra versatility of this camera. I am not gentle on it and it continues to work flawlessly. It even looks like new despite having dropped it repeatedly, which I could not say for my former cameras. I love how the battery and the memory card slots are tucked away leaving the camera with a clutter free feeling.
I would recomend this camera to anyone that is an outdoor enthusiast.

My 3 year old loves this camera and it has put up to his abuse. He has used it at the beach and waterpark. The simplicity of the camera is great. I also like that when I use it I can change the settings and use the more advanced features for specialty photos. For the money and a waterproof camera I have not seen a better one. I also own the canon equivalent and this one takes far better pictures both above and bellow the water.

I love this camera. I already been in -30F windchill taking videos snowmobiling. It trully is water and freez proof. I love the fact that mine is orange. we dropped it in the snow and you can spot it instantly with this bright color. LOVE LOVE LOVE. the pictures are great as well. Love the separate button for video. no adjustment needed. just push the button to start recording in an instant.

I got this camera in January 2012 and have already taken over 7000 shots with over 6000 of them underwater while snorkeling in the Red Sea. The camera has held up well and given me the opportunity to capture a tremendous variety of quality pics.
It does best is the shallower water with good light which is pretty easy to do in this part df the world. the lower light shots have more noise but that is easily handled in post processing software. The flash comes in handy for critters hiding in the rocks and the zoom gets me closer to things like lion fish where a little distance is a good thing.
I get 250-300 shots per session which covers a nice 2-3 hour swim at the beach. Maintenance has been easy and I make sure to rinse, clean and dry the camera after every use in the water.
The large file size allows for nice crops and post processing work. I wish the screen was a little easier to see underwater it if I position myself well relative to the sun it works well. I have used the video also and have some great shots of an octopus on the move and changing color. I also got some night video using light from a dive light that looks pretty good.
I have added a couple of shots as examples. I truly love this camera. Thanks to Nikon for a great camera along with my D5000 and, hopefully, soon to be added D600. I like this camera so much we have bought them for two of our daughters one of whom is a pro photographer and she loves the macro.

This is the 'GO TO' camera. It fits in your shirt pocket, takes remarkable very high quality photos. Fantastic battery life. It will take the large (GB) memory cards and store hunderds of photos, no need to carry extras. I carry an extra battery not the extra memory card as needed with my other cameras. Recommended to a friend which he purchased and took on a cruse vacation and loved it!

I bought this camera prior to going on a trip to Ecuador in June 2012. I have now used this camera on two trips to very remote locations including the Amazon and the pictures I have taken turn out great. I was in Peru recently and was using this camera when I misstepped and fell down several stairs. I unfortunately did not fair so well with a fractured & dislocated ankle but the camera after being slammed on a very hard surface held up perfectly!!! The camera didn't even have a scratch and I have used the camera since and still takes great pictures.
I would recommend this camera for someone who needs a camera not only for everyday use but for those times that you may be in an area and are afraid of ruining a more expensive camera. I have several other Nikon SLR cameras that I use on travel but this is the one I use in areas that I wouldn't be afraid if it dropped.

quality, ease of use and very user friendly. portable for use at grade school related field trips. Photos are quality and worth the time I take at end of school to create a memorable CD of the year my "day family" (as my class is called by us) enjoyed and learned. thanks...my kid's parents love the photos and CD also!! This camera was given me by my husband after my other coolpix "found another owner."

I was very seceptical about this camera, but i took a chance and i got it. My youth group went on a adventure camp up to Canada, i took this camera and my Nikon D3000. This camera survived extreme canoeing, being dropped many times, canyoneering, caving, and lots of rain! And when my Nikon D3000's battery froze, this one pulled through and i was able to still get very good pictures! I love not having to worry about this camera, i am yearbook photo editor at school and i have no problem lending this camera out to my team.
The only thing is the video is hard to turn off. But i dont ususally take video so i dont mind.
But i would recommend this camera to anyone who is outdoorsy! My dad is very outdoorsy and loves taking this camera with him.

Compared to the S8000, the only other Nikon I own, this camera was a huge step up for me and my Family. It's Underwater picture and video capturing capabilities and toughness made this camera fun to play with in all ellaments a family vacation can throw at it. It's 1080p video and piture quality is top notch for this camera of it's class. I highly recommend the AW100 to anyone looking for a camera for any occation!

We bought this nikon on a trip this summer in Hawaii to take pictures while snorkeling.
We had bought/replaced 3 Fuji underwater cameras before and they all ended up taking water.
We were very impressed with the quality on the images both above and below water. We also have a Nikon D7000 so our comparison point is high.
On our last day of our trip we tought we had lost the camera on the beach :( But once home we washed our beach bags in the washer and to our surprise when we took the bags out of our washer our camera dropped to the floor. Powered it on and it worked fine.
