I bought this camera, not realizing that I'd actually want to use manual controls. Well, now I do, and now im saving for a D5100.
If you are one of the people who don't really care about manual controls then this could be a good camera for you. The zoom is really nice, and it's easy to use. Sadly, low light performance was not very good. Action shots were not very good as well. I think this is due to the CCD sensor. If you're willing to spend a little more, get the P510 because there are manual controls, there's more zoom, and the low light performance is better.
Overall, it isn't really a bad camera, I think I just outgrew it.

I got this camera for my birthday last year because I wanted a good camera to be able to video and take pictures of my horse back riding events. I am so disappointed with this camera. If you don't give it several seconds to focus it blurs, or if you just hit the record button before it gets those few seconds to focus, your entire video is blurry, and you don't notice until you go back to watch it. Also the pictures and stuff always looks so bad on the little screen, but turn out better on the computer occasionally. It's so annoying to have to sit there for a good 30 seconds to take a picture. I would never recommend it to anyone, I don't think I've gotten hardly any good pictures from it.

I got this for my birthday and was really excited, but the focus is SUPER SLOW and when it finally does focus it's not amazing. The zoom is good but the focus makes it bad. There is no manual focus... So I wouldn't recommend this if ur a photographer maybe it would be good for family vacations. I am now saving up for the nikon d7000 it is much better!

I asked my husband to get me this camera for Christmas. He gave it to me early, because I couldn't wait with my granbabies! What a big disappointment! Slow focus, terrible indoors, can't take multiple pictures, push button down huge delay and sometimes won't take a picture at all, shuts off when you take to many pictures and will only make short videos(3minutes)(says battery wore down when it has new batteries), forget getting any action pics even if you put it on the setting ( shoot delay and blurrrrrrryyyyy)! I'm taking it back today, thank goodness he bought a warranty, even though I had it 2 weeks. I tried. So upset;(
