This camera is awesome. It produces excellent quality pictures and video. To top it all it has a zoom lens that you will not believe. Great value for the money. Perfect camera for a family. Highly recommend.

I am surprised why this camera is placed in the Digital Camera Section when it should be placed alongside the DSLR category - This has practically all the features and picture quality of a DSLR - The Picture quality is amazing , handling of the camera is great and it grips in the hand with comfort , It is packed with stunning features , It can be used with full manual mode for special shots and use like a DSLR and also has easy operation manual modes like a point and shoot , my wife too not being tech savvy is able to easily use it . The shutter and aperture priority modes are excellent and i have got some super shots with this camera , I recommend everyone to read the manual to understand the features , Video quality is amazing , most amazing feature is the Zoom - also at full zoom 36x the image stabilization is so great it can capture images like close up , I read some reviews about the battery life but we have not faced any such problems and we have used the camera for 6-8 hours with about 150 or more images and still the battery did not show any signs of dying down . This is one excellent feature packed camera with image quality of a DSLR coming at a great price - I would definettely recommend this camera . This is worth a 1000$ camera coming at a much lower price

I am so excited to be the proud new owner of a Nikon Coolpix P500. It takes amazing pictures and I love the close up feature. Still learning about the camera but I am impressed.

I am beyond blown away how sharp this camera takes pictures and the zoom is out of this world its like the 70-300mm lens built right into it and also 18-55mm is awesome and everything in between. I never been so please with a product. I had a Sony Cybershot but it was so aweful so I wanted something more powerful and something cheaper that does HD Vids and High quality shots. I have had this since spring I love the video on it. Just for those who are having a hard time with the video make sure the recording button is on HD not the other one! I found out the hard way it makes it have no audio for 1 minute.. stupid but oh well. But other than that, its perfect! Just as good as the 1000 dollar camera!

Tech feature are very appealing. Not convinced that 36x in a point an shoot makes much sense. Would rather have seen money spent on better glass and better image quality. Also a none compressed file format would be nice. Very poor image quality. I fear Nikon has lost their way trying to appeal to ever nook and corner of photography. Take a tip from the new auto industry. Reduce complexity and use fewer high quality components.
