Ever since I got this camera last year for father's day I don't go anywhere without it - it is easy to use, takes excellent photos and comes in handy when going camping, for graduations and for taking lots of pictures of our husky Starr. The only drawback is that you need to time your shots just right, pressing down on the shutter button a second before you want to take the picture is the trick. Otherwise I love it!

I have had mine for a couple years now. I have only had one problem and it was the battery exhaustion thing. A fix was sent out for it though and all you had to do was download the fix to your camera. It was simple and fixed the problem. Takes great pics. Portable. Reliable. I have gotten close up spots shots of humming birds and the camera took a pic which caught their wings in motion, clear as can be. If you have issues with pictures not coming out right, don't be so quick to always blame the camera! Each of the pictures posted were either from a distance or zoomed in (some taken through glass window)

This is a nice pic in the Sports Continuous mode

This is 2 frames later, you can see the subtle change, it's that fast, PLUS there's another pic between the 2

Another good example of the 13 FPS, I selected this out of 18 others, started when she jumped out of the swing to when she landed.

This pictures shows how close it can get (It can get closer, this is just a nice pic) and how clear the photos come out. This is a good example because dimes are small and everyone knows exactly how big they are, so you can judge for yourself

AFTER, A great example of the zoom of this camera
Click on the image for close
BEFORE, Without any zoom (Taken in close-up mode)
First of all, I love this camera. I've owned it now for a year and a half. This is my first nikon product, before I had a little Poloroid digital camera, but it broke so I got this camera as a replacement and it has done much more than just replace my old camera. The pictures it produces are beautiful and very large.
My favorite specs are the 15X zoom, the close up mode, sports continuous mode (takes up to 13 pictures a second), and the design.
The design makes me feel like a professional photographer, I often get asked if I'm in a photography club at my school because of it. A perfect fit in your hands. The pop-up flash is a nice feature too, if you don't want flash, just leave it down and it won't go off.
The zoom on this camera is amazing, much much better than and of the popular digital cameras. It STILL amazes me even though I've owned this camera for a while. Since it's digital zoom, you aren't risking clearity of the pictures at all.
The Sports Continuous mode is really fun. I've always wanted to make a flip book with it, but I haven't yet. Fun things like jumping into a pool or off of a swing look really cool when showed frame after frame. I haven't timed it yet, but I would estimate that this mode only lasts a couple seconds at a time, and after your done the camera takes up to 10 seconds to finsh before you can take any more pics. I do notice a slight difference in clearity in this mode, but it's nothing too major.
I take all of my normal pictures in closeup mode because it seems to focus the best. In this mode, you still have the ability to zoom all the way and you can take normal pictures too, it's not only for close things. Sometimes it takes a second to focus, but it's always worth it. I get some beautiful pictures of birds in my bird bath for example, or really clear pictures of something up close, like a small coin. The only annoyance in this mode is that when you first select the mode, it automatically zooms in a little bit and you don't always need it zoomed in. It zooms in to where the zoom bar at the top has a mark at, where it's green. I assume it takes the best pictures in that degree of zoom, but I'm not sure. When you push the button half way to take a picture, if it shows gree you know your picture will come out great. When it's red, I'd give it a couple more seconds to focus again
The only major downsides to this camera are that it takes 4 AA batteries and you can't use rechargeable according to the booklet. I would reccomend buying batteries in bulk, especially if you use your camera alot
I know I've typed a lot, but it's only because I love this camera so much. Worth every penny you pay. If you've made it this far, congratulations.
P.S. I would upload so many more pictures if I could, I feel these are good examples of the camera's features

I am very happy with the performance of this camera. Takes beautiful, high quality shots and is easy to use. Great resolution, awesome stock lens, flash works great indoors and outdoors, good video/audio quality. The only negative thing I have to say is, occasionally the L100 will have difficulty aquiring good focus on target, especially under low-light conditions.

Taken with the L100
I received this camera as a gift last year for Christmas, and have started my own photography career using the L100. I have had my ups and downs with it, but every time I get frustrated with something I read through the user guide and figure out the only reason I thought my camera was malfunctioning was because of something I was doing. This is a wonderful camera for beginners!

Afret taking the shots by L100, you have to believe that, there is a photographer inside you. Great resolution, great value for money, great zooming capasity like Tele. This is a great guide to the way of Professional Photography.
But if Nikon provided the option to do the all manual settings like F/L, Aperture, then I'll be a "All Time Favourite".
In One Line " It is a Great Memory Stopper"...

For an inexpensive little camera the Coolpix L100 is a great buy. I have found it has many features that only expensive camera's have. The 15X zoom is amazing. I find it hard to take a bad picture with this camera. I am really impresses with all the features and quality of the pictures it produces. Check out the picture I took of the full moon using the digital zoom. Looks like it was taken through a telescope!

This is by far the best camera I've ever owned. Had an Olympus and Kodak. Nothing compares! I was amazed at how it takes pics in complete darkness! I've photographed my kids asleep and had great results. At first I was not too happy in the beginning because my pics were red and yellow tinted. Well I later noticed that I had not raised the flash!!! So for those who are disappointed because of their pics tinted, raise the flash at the top of the camera.

This is a great camera I have it for the past year, it had a slight problem but NIKON fixed the problem very fast and free under warranty, only charge was for the shipping and handling when sending the camera. After that the camera works without a problem, in about a month I take between 100 and 200 pictures very great camera. Focusing is great, macro function helps with close objects. It is a great camera for taking nature pictures, having a tripod with this camera is a great tool. Get at least 4GB sd card for this camera because of the amazing shots you will be able to take. It is also a great camera for the beginer photopgrapher.

This is a great camera, easy to use, carrying is easy, wonderful color. Pluses: battery exchange [alkaline or rechargeable, I USE ALKALINE AS BACK UP ONLY], zoom brings in great detail ( I love taking close ups, getting great shots of hummingbirds, bugs, flowers also great for up close people shots), clear sun/beach pics, captures the beauty of sunsets. Love the choice of sizes of pictures like large ones for 8x10 or small like email. Once you get the hang of the menu and settings, becomes easy. Used self-timer for first time on vacation, worked great [only drawback only takes one photo and then you must set it again.] Video works well too, I am still learning about that, but plays back well so far both from camera and on computer. Only negative so far is No Viewfinder. Really miss that feature when out in the bright light. Hard to see what I am taking.

Great replacement for my Sony Cybershot. Loved it ever since I've had it. Bought it on my sons birthday a year ago. Had the party at the park on a beautiful sunny day. It took some very very nice pictures. Have loved it ever since.

Have had my L100 for almost 8 months and have gotten lots of really great pictures. Major drawback is lack of viewfinder. Almost impossible to take pictures in full sun 'cause can't really see image on the screen. However, the pictures I do take are really great. Easy to travel with and not heavy at all. Great purchase and the price was reasonable. Only disappointment is lack of viewfinder. Have had some trouble with the auto focus but hopefully that's being handled now.

I LOVE this camera. After my Kodak which had nothing but problems, this one was easy to use and has not given me an ounce of trouble so far and its been over a year. The Zoom is great and I bought it for the macro feature so I could take nature closeups, which have turned out beautifully. Most of all I love its easy on screen menu and the fact that it "feels" like a camera in my hand, not a deck of cards, but its not heavy or bulky. I highly recommend.

I have had this camera over a year now and have been very happy with the results. I have used it at my kids' outdoor ballgames as well as indoor games and concerts. To get better shots in the gyms I somtimes had to adjust the lighting with the exposure compensation and could get great shots.
The zoom lens on the camera also is great if you dont go past the recommended setting. I love all the different options it gives you and that the menu is easy to understand and that it responds quickly.
I too was upset that the camera would not take rechargable batteries, but have used the lithium ones and they last a loooong time.
Though the video is not of the greatest quality it is a fun feature to have. Nice to be able to carry just one camera to some of the events rather than a camera and a video camera.
Overall I have been really happy and impressed with this camera. A coworker even went out and bought one after borrowing mine.

I have had my camera for about 2 years. Have taken tons of pictures with it.Delete what you don't want, or wait and delete them after you attach camera to your computer,Before you download the pictures to an assigned area in your computer. Love everything about it. But still not sure how I can take pictures of the full moon yet. But that is not important. A person can set it on "Easy Mode",let the camera think for you. Or you can set it on particular setting. Indoors, outdoors, sunset, sunrise, faces, Or my 2 favorite victums my kids(aka Dogs). It lets you know if someone was blinking. I still would like to get a camera with the different lenses, but this one is great. One draw back is if you want to take a few pictures fast, you may need to use the continuous mode. In my oppinion using rechargeable batteries is the way to go. A little bit more money up front but worth saving a bit of room in the land fill, for other junk I throw away! LOL.I bought 2 sets or 4 each batteries for the camera as soon as I recieved it as a gift. This is my first digital camera . I have nothing else to compare it to like some of the other reviews. I hope you all have a great time with your Coolpix L100 like I have had.

I was surprised that the L100 took such excellent pics indoors without the flash. But I bike a lot and the camera in a waterproof case is a hassle when you see something you want to take a picture of, like a coiled rattlesnake. So, I am going to have to get a smaller camera (about the size you could slide in your shirt pocket) so I'd be ready when ET visits.
