Not since my Leica days have I developed an emotional attachment to a camera. But, walking into a Washington press conference or onto a motorsports race track without my D2H evokes the same uneasy feeling as leaving home without a wristwatch or wallet.
Sure, like my colleagues, I own and use newer Nikon pro bodies, but the D2H is often my "go to" instrument, especially for web work. In fact, with its modest file size yet excellent image quality, the D2H could be sold to pros today as a web specialist camera.
Admittedly, the D2H's in-cameras high ISO performance is not up to today's snuff, but, thanks to the excellent noise reduction software now available, I have never found it to be a hindrance in practical use. (Shoot RAW and you'll be happy).
As for print work - well, I still submit D2H files to magazine editors and have never received a complaint -- just compliments. If the D2H was good enough for the likes of Sports Illustrated just a few years ago, it's good enough for most anybody today. It's a keeper.

The D2H was my first of the big Pro Digital SLR's. To date (2011) I am on my third shutter. I still use this body extensively even though I have others. (D2X, D3x, D-700, D-300) I seem to come back to the D2H for sports work. The smaller MB isn't a problem in todays photo-shoped world.
